Students at Milwee Middle School are part of a unique pre-engineering magnet curriculum that promotes creativity and innovation through discovery and investigation. Classes are set up for the development of critical thinking skills that will prepare students so they can succeed in an educationally rich environment both in high school and beyond.
Office Technology is one way that students learn to master effective communication in a digital world. Despite most students knowing how to use a computer, a tablet, or a smartphone, one of our greatest challenges is in helping those students understand how those technologies can be maximized for research, papers, and presentations. We want students to do more than get by on technology. We want them to get the most out of the programs and resources they use.
Students will spend the first half of the semester learning the terminology of computers and the Internet while developing their typing skills. During the second half of the semester, students will be learning how to properly evaluate websites for trustworthy information, how to write research papers with Microsoft Word 2013, and how to work with teams to build slideshow presentations with Microsoft PowerPoint 2013.
