LEARNING GOAL #2 - Introduction to Microsoft Word: Students will be able to conduct online research, evaluate/cite sources, and type a one-page research paper using multiple features of Microsoft Word 2016.
LESSON OVERVIEW: Today, we will begin writing our Research Paper, following most of the steps and tips that we have learned about Online Research and Microsoft Word. Over the last few weeks, you have gained a number of skills that you need to prove through this paper. This is not a challenge. This is an assignment that will be graded and will have a significant impact on your overall grade in Office Technology.
DAILY SCHEDULE (85 MINUTES): PART 1: SOLO WORK (10-20 Minutes) PART 2: CLASS DISCUSSION / NEW MATERIAL (30-50 Minutes) PART 3: DAILY ACTIVITY (10-20 Minutes) PART 4: CLOSING (5 Minutes)
PART 1: SOLO WORK Step 1: Find your assigned computer Step 1a: Classroom helper pass out name tags Step 2: Log on to your assigned computer Step 3: Go to and log on to your typingweb.com account Step 4: Begin your next typing practice lesson Step 5: Remember, you are trying to reach at least 15 WPM on each of the Beginner Lessons (all 9 of them)
PART 2: CLASS DISCUSSION / NEW MATERIAL Step 1: Go to the class discussion web site Step 2: Begin reading new lesson material until class discussion activity start Step 3: Once the class discussion activity starts, follow along on the web site and be prepared to read the material out loud to the class
PART 4: CLOSING Step 1: Classroom helper collect and put away name tags Step 2: Close all open applications (Microsoft Office applications, web sites, etc.) Step 3: Gracefully shut down your computer Step 4: Turn off your display Step 5: Push your chair under the desk and pick up any trash
