LESSON OVERVIEW:Throughout the last two weeks, you have accomplished quite a bit. You have mastered (or come close to mastering) the Home Row Keys, you have made progress on your Typing Web Tutor, you have looked at different types of keyboards, and you have even built a Weebly website. Now the time has come to expand the use of your fingers and start building your vocabulary. Today, we’ll talk about these words: alphanumeric, bit, blog, byte, character, command, CPS, CPU, crash, and cursor.
DAILY SCHEDULE (85 MINUTES): PART 1: SOLO WORK (10-20 Minutes) PART 2: CLASS DISCUSSION / NEW MATERIAL (30-50 Minutes) PART 3: DAILY ACTIVITY (10-20 Minutes) PART 4: CLOSING (5 Minutes)
PART 1: SOLO WORK Step 1: Find your assigned computer Step 1a: Classroom helper pass out name tags Step 2: Log on to your assigned computer Step 3: Go to and log on to your typingweb.com account Step 4: Begin your next typing practice lesson Step 5: Remember, you are trying to reach at least 15 WPM on each of the Beginner Lessons (all 9 of them)
PART 2: CLASS DISCUSSION / NEW MATERIAL Step 1: Go to the class discussion web site Step 2: Begin reading new lesson material until class discussion activity start Step 3: Once the class discussion activity starts, follow along on the web site and be prepared to read the material out loud to the class
PART 4: CLOSING Step 1: Classroom helper collect and put away name tags Step 2: Close all open applications (Microsoft Office applications, web sites, etc.) Step 3: Gracefully shut down your computer Step 4: Turn off your display Step 5: Push your chair under the desk and pick up any trash
