LEARNING GOAL: The Language of Office TechnologyStudents will understand all basic terminology of office and internet technology and be able to speak the language when working within a computer classroom.
LESSON OVERVIEW: Right now, your fingers are young and full of life. You can play or do almost anything and you feel almost invincible. But if you are not careful and you are on a computer all the time, you may not feel invincible for long. You are among the first generation of students to grow up using computers and keyboards from a very young age. Most adults did not begin using computers until they were teenagers and because many of them never learned the lesson on proper posture, they struggle with physical problems as young adults. Even your teacher has a few issues as a result of improper typing.

PART 1: SOLO WORK Step 1: Find your assigned computer Step 1a: Classroom helper pass out name tags Step 2: Log on to your assigned computer Step 3: Go to and log on to your typingweb.com account Step 4: Begin your next typing practice lesson Step 5: Remember, you are trying to reach at least 15 WPM on each of the Beginner Lessons (all 9 of them)
PART 2: CLASS DISCUSSION / NEW MATERIAL Step 1: Go to the class discussion web site Step 2: Begin reading new lesson material until class discussion activity start Step 3: Once the class discussion activity starts, follow along on the web site and be prepared to read the material out loud to the class
PART 4: CLOSING Step 1: Classroom helper collect and put away name tags Step 2: Close all open applications (Microsoft Office applications, web sites, etc.) Step 3: Gracefully shut down your computer Step 4: Turn off your display Step 5: Push your chair under the desk and pick up any trash

For this writing assignment you are to write a description of how you are adapting to the Touch Typing approach. Specifically, you may describe what Touch Typing is, any issues you are having, and what you can do to improving your Touch Typing techniques. This writing assignment should be a minimum of three paragraphs in length.
