LEARNING GOAL: The Language of Office TechnologyStudents will understand all basic terminology of office and internet technology and be able to speak the language when working within a computer classroom.
LESSON OVERVIEW: The first step in using Office Technology is to understand your work environment. If you have made it to class, then of course, you are not at home working on your own private computer. You are in a public computer lab monitored by teachers and district employees. Today, we will learn about the computer lab and the people who share it with us, the guidelines for our computer lab, and before the end of class, we will see just how fast you are on a keyboard.

PART 1: SOLO WORK Step 1: Find your assigned computer Step 1a: Classroom helper pass out name tags Step 2: Log on to your assigned computer Step 3: Go to and log on to your typingweb.com account Step 4: Begin your next typing practice lesson
PART 2: CLASS DISCUSSION / NEW MATERIAL Step 1: Go to the class discussion web site Step 2: Begin reading new lesson material until class discussion activity start Step 3: Once the class discussion activity starts, follow along on the web site and be prepared to read the material out loud to the class
PART 4: CLOSING Step 1: Classroom helper collect and put away name tags Step 2: Close all open applications (Microsoft Office applications, web sites, etc.) Step 3: Gracefully shut down your computer Step 4: Turn off your display Step 5: Push your chair under the desk and pick up any trash
